Mechanisms of action1. Trichoderma viride represents high cellulase activity and also controls disease pathogens by both direct parasitism and substrate competition, by releasing biologically active substances that affect the reproductive function of pathogens and inhibit their development. 2. Trichoderma lignorum is an active producer of cellulosic enzymes and capable of deeply destroying the cell walls of dead plants and disintegrated individual plant polysaccharides. The antagonistic activity of the micromycetes to Fusarium oxysporum, Phytophthora parasitica, etc. is caused by the production of antibiotics, phytohormones (gliotoxin, viridine, trichodermin etc.) and by the capacity for accelerated colonization of the substrate. Mycopathic strains of Trichoderma enter the host mycelium and actively grow inside of the cells, resulting in death. 3.
